Oracle support contradicts patch release notes?

I was discussing the 10.2.0.3 patch release notes with someone in Oracle support today. The person specifically told me to not use the database upgrade assistant in silent mode. She said she did not know why it was in the readme and did not know anyone who got it to work.

This kind of concerned me, because I would have no way of knowing this without talking to them. Yes I know I can do the upgrade at the command line and don't need it.

Has this happened to anyone before?
