I finally found the appropriate doc on MetaLink. Searching every which way that I could think of didn't bring it up, but I got to it from Note:169706.1.
  Note:353529.1.
  Requirements for Installing Oracle 9iR2 64-bit on RHEL 4 x86-64 (AMD64/EM64T) All will be better now. Hope this helps someone else.
