terry,
i just looked at my present backup times and the backup times you were noticing it does seem ot higher.
we backup to tape over a TAN(direct fiber attached) abd backup 1.87 TB full in 3 hours daily i'm guessing backup up over a SAN would be much faster . so maybe your underlying issue could be disk .
