Hi,

I am kind of confusing with the usage, functionalities and terminologies of multipathing, ASMLIB and HBA in RAC env.

I saw a note in Matalink of "Note, that Oracle Corporation does not certify ASM against these multipathing utilities." Why do people still choose multipathing (like EMC PowerPath, or IBM SDD) in RAC? What are the benefits that ASMLIB can't provide? Does ASMLIB provide same functions as multipathing? How many minimums HBA per server in EAC env are suitable?

Thanks for the advice.

Cindy
