This subject has been raised here numerous times in the past, and the result is always the same:

• very few will ever summarize
• when summarizing, it is very likely that important details will be lost
• always posting to the list is more likely to incite good conversation
• always posting to the list is more likely to incite flames
• there are often good reasons for not posting to the list (use your imagination)
• none of this really matters, as everyone will do exactly as they please
