I use a Dell D800 at work, 1.7 GHZ Pentium M, 1 Gig RAM

At home I have a Latitude (I forget model number, but whatever the top of the line one is), 1.8 GHZ Pentium M, 1 Gig RAM.

Both seem to run Oracle sufficiently well.

You may want to opt for HD speed over capacity if you need to make that choice, it does make a signicant difference.
