because he spent the money and he wants to see something for it=3D2E

I will collect some statspack reports during peak periods and post them=3D2E=3D20=3D
Maybe someone will see somewhere that the memory could be of use=3D2E

There are many possible reasons for this=3D2E=3D2E=3D2E

1=3D2E You did not increase the size of the Oracle Buffer Cache to take advantage of the new memory=3D2E
2=3D2E Your performance problems were already related to excessive logica= l
IO and adding memory will only add to the problem=3D2E 3=3D2E There is a disk/cpu or network bottleneck, no amount of new memory=

will solve this=3D2E
4=3D2E Hardware isn't good at compensating for poor application design=3D= 2E

Why don't you post a few statspack reports someplace when you are having trouble I am sure others will be happy to comment=3D2E Use 5-10 minute intervals when you are having the problems=3D2E

3. Does anyone have a tried and true method for determining the best place=3D3D20=3D3D to use additional physical free memory?
