We have the need to for small database on our clients systems. Currently we are storing all data for all our customers in an Oracle 9iR2 database.
There is a need for clients to have a small mysql, postgress, firebird database for storing a days worth of data. That data is to be downloaded nightly to our "mothership" oracle database. The tables on the client side will be in fact a small subset of the "motherships" database.

Question I have so far:
- has anyone done something like this before? If so, which client
database was chosen and why?
- Can I run personal oracle on the client database without a license?

Many Thanks,
-Lizz
