We (i.e. the DBA's) are trying to effect a platform change around here among SA's and Operations Management who are still convinced that Tru64 is the OS of The Enlightened (despite repeated CPU failures and OS bugs). There is a requirement (for now) to set up for RAC (although we Probably Do Not Need RAC). From what we (i.e. the DBA's) and me (i.e. me) can determine: IBM clustering is still a work in progress. HP is feeling around its backside trying to determine which hole is truly its Unix hole. After the end (we hope) of the dot-com bust, Sun is sitting here with 7 billion dollars in the bank and a very good Value Added Reseller (VAR) network. Based on that, we are a little inclined to say that the reports of Sun's demise are premature.

Is there something we missed? Something we should know?
