I don't believe there are any equivalent PL/SQL functions, unless you write your own.
PL/SQL won't be able to compete with Oracle Media ( is that its name this month?) in terms of performance.

Hi

If you have installed Oracle text you can use other functions like CONTAINS,CATSEARCH, andMATCHES

My question is if someone knows about some performance test that shows Oracle text functions as better than plsql equivalent functions.
