Been there, done that. I've run into the phenomenon where recovery asks for an SCN and suggests a log that contains that SCN. Oracle then applies all the changes in that log, which prompts it to need just one more SCN, and suggests a log. It never ends. If you recover to an SCN that is in the next log, then recovery is satisfied. Now I should clarify that this is when you are using RESETLOGS. I think you've had better suggestions by switching logs, or bringing over the current logs.

This makes sense except for the fact that I've applied logs for about 4 hours worth of data AFTER the online backups. The dates on the last system change numbers applied are substantially after the end of the online backup completion.
