Syed

What is your purpose in collecting statistics? So the CBO can make accurate decisions based on the fresh statistics? Then the question is how much will the table change before the CBO is likely to make a different decision. You must make that judgement. Also, be aware that when the CBO makes a different decision based on the fresh statistics, it may take a different path that may produce worse performance at an unpredictable time.

Subject: collecting statistics on table those have bulk inserts everyday..

Hi List,
We have some tables which have heavy insets everyday, can any one please hint me how often do I have to collect statistics on these tables? Normally, I collect statistics every alternative day. We are using Oracle 8i not 9i, I know there is a feature in 9i to collect statistics automatially for regular inserts tables. Unfortunately, we are still using oracle 8i.

Best Regards,
Syed Jaffar Hussain
