Thanks to Jonathan Gennick, the Doc's about emctl at Metalink and despite my stubberness to have the (custom) database created by the scripts my 10g database is up and running, and accessible through dbconsole and iSQLPlus.

Thanks guys!.

The worst problem was emca complaining about an already installed sysman repository. emca -r will go around this.

It runs on my laptop, PIII/750 Mhz, 60 GB HDD and 512 MB memory with SuSE 8.1.

I started the install with the previous prepared CD at 01.00 PM, and now it' s 00.50 AM. So, slightly less than 12 hours, including excactly 8 hours database creation. (Is that due to my custom database? Is a pre-configured General Purpose created faster?)

I remember that setting up 7.0 on SCO OpenServer took me several days, so this is quite better.

Ready to play now, and to see what 10g has brought to DataGuard

Regards, Carel-Jan
