Hi Saira,

If the import has told you how many rows it has imported it will now be creating the indexes which may well take some time. You can query the number of indexes for that table in another session to see if it is has hung. I have had a problem recently where the import created the normal indexes but hung when trying to create bitmap indexes. I had to cntrl-C to move onto the next table and then manually create the bitmap indexes afterwards. This may be a bug in 8.1.7 - I haven't chased it up yet. If anybody has any info on this I would be grateful.

HTH

How can I find out if an import is dead or alive? I have an import of 1.6M+ rows that's been running for over 45 minutes.

Oracle 8.1.7.0.0
AIX 4.3.3 What can I check?

Thanks,
Saira
