redo log performance

Hi List ,
we have 6 redo log groups with 1 member in each group ( old dba said , since its mirroring no need to create additional member on another disk ) . I sometime see waits on redo log switch , which I think is because there is high volume of redo log being generated . But all redo logs are on same disk causing archiving process (read) and log writer ( write) to contend causing further wait in redo log switch . Is my theory correct . should all redo log be placed on same disk ( considering just the performance ,no backup ) ?
