Get rid of the "as sysdba". rman will automatically connect however it needs to connect. Be sure you have granted sysdba to whoever you are connecting as. I always use sys or system instead of messing with yet another userid. I've not played with the single quotes; but that could be part of the problem. In general, it is not good practice to put user/password on a command line. Sometimes the program will hide its command line from the ps command, and sometimes not. I think rman does not.

Maybe need to export ORACLE_SID=YADAYADA
