I drew the short straw and have been testing RMAN for integration into
our environment.
I have used an 8.1.6 database for our 8i and 9.0 catalogs. I had a
problem installing 9.2 catalog in 8.1.6 database. (Still researching
this problem.)
My testing so far, (AIX and Solaris) I have been able to connect to
the 9i (9.0/9.2) catalog with the 8i RMAN target databases without
problems.
