I usually associate horror stories with user code. Oracle supplied code either works or it doesn't. Of course there have been (are and will be) horror stories about Oracle supplied code. But it is the user code stories that are worth making a movie about.

Nothing is wrong with DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO ... go for it.
