    Excuse me, but how is that going to fix the bad datafile?

You have to restore the tablespace with the datafile you want to restore to a clone database and export the datafile's contents from the clone and import it into the database with the bad datafile.

How DO you do an online recovery of a datafile while the database is still in use? I've had to do recoveries before, but never this scenario.
