I kept a flat file list of the archived logs I had backed up in the
last backup, then did a diff of that with the logs currently on disk,
backed up every log in the new list minus the very latest one (but I
was willing to lose a little data, in the case that that log had
already been archived)
or you could use RMAN and let it decide
