The problem with Linux on Sparc or Alpha is that Oracle doesn't have binaries for them. I've requested Alpha binaries, but haven't had any response, despite the "1-2 business days" response. <sigh>

No reason why not. Might also want to consider linux on a Sparc or Alpha.
