UNIX Shell to monitor redo log space

Before I start creating a 'NEW' script, does anyone have a shell script (and willing to share) that will monitor redo log space and when it fills to a certain level will issue the 'Alter System Archive Log To 'xxx' command in order not to have the instance become quiescent.
