well i can make the claim that in the last 2 years that i have been at this job, we have not lost any data. but it's because of a large dose of luck, combined with proactive monitoring, and recovery from several crashes, both user caused and hardware caused.

does that make be a better DBA? don't know, i just do the best i can. and i don't claim it at all.
