The same can be said for a loaded ( 16 way ) IBM RS6000 S80 running AIX. *Much* less than an E10k and equivialent processing power.

Yeah, but you still gotta listen pretty closely to the sales pitch.
The *are* sales folks after all.
Intestingly, the DH Brown report put AIX on top of the unix heap for several year, that is until this year, when Solaris edged it out.
