Philippe,

Thanks for the reply. The problem was *me*. When the database would not = open
after I restored the controlfile, I did a "RESET LOG" and thus RMAN = database
was being sync...=20

Anyway, I shutdown the database and restored the controlfile and then restored all the other missing file including the archivelogs.

I am now applying the redologs by doing a "recover database using = backup
controlfile;"

I now wait with all my fingers crossed.

        well, if you have lost your system catalog of the database, the DB is broken.

	Stop the DB,=20
	save the file of the DB you have (in case of).
	Check with the SA your disks (filsesystems, hardware...)
	when disks are OK
	restore the entire DB from your last correct backup.
	If you were in archive log, reapply archives until you have your
disk problems.
	and reopen the DB.
