Web..Java..Oracle..PDFI would direct you to the Adobe website, and then = to their technical support. They do have products that allow you to = merge data from a database with pdf document. The result is as you = described.

A client I worked with in the past did something very similar, but I was = handling the Database side of things so I don't remember the PDF = details. The folks at adobe were very helpfull though, and there were = several white papers on their site about this kind of thing.

We are looking for a method of generating PDF doc's in the following =
scenario:=20

  1. A user enters data in a jhtml web form;=20
  2. The server side Java VM takes the form fields and queries the = Oracle DB for extra data;=20
  3. A PDF document is produced (somehow) and mailed to the original web = user;=20

Platform:=20
Oracle v8.1.5=20
Solaris 7=20
Apache=20
Dynamo (Java VM)=20

The real issue is how to get everything into the PDF file format. =20

Is there a way to fill in a PDF doc?=20

Should I write to a post script file (or some other format)=20
then use some tool to convert to PDF?=20

All answers, hints, or web (research) links are greatly appreciated.=20
