Eric,
you've converted the US gallon to litres, try it with the Imperial Gallon which works out at 4.41 Litres
(for those who don't know the difference 1 US pint = 16 fluid ounces , 1 Imperial pint = 20 fluid ounces,
1 US gallon = 8 US pints , 1 Imperial gallon = 8 Imperial Pints)

When I was last in Scotland, I was paying about 83 pence a litre or #3.66 an imperial gallon (#2.93 US gallon)
or in dollars thats $4.54 for a US and $5.67 Imperial

even taking the US equivelant, I pay $4.54 in Scotland and only $1.64 here in New York
in other words I pay a third of the price here than I did when living in dear old Scotland.

Two things piss me off about the gas prices though. The first is that people here are moaning about how expensive gas is becoming - They should look at Europe to see really expensive gas ! The second is , why is it so expensive at home when their's several trillion gallons sitting out in the North Sea just off the Scottish coastline ?

• a good thing about the smaller US pints is that I get to drink more of them and my wife doesn't complain tooooooo much

I'v converted the gallon to 3.78541 Liter, and the Dollar to f2.30 dutch guilder.
1 Liter of unleaded fuel costs f2.70 here so;

The gallon would cost us here in Holland $4.45 so two times your price! Talking about the price of living......
