just modify the .profile file for the oracle user, then when you login = as
the oracle user the environment variables will be sourced = automatically.

Don't worry about the SHMMAX. It will be fine for your little test = box. =20
I'm not sure what's causing your other problem. Make sure you have = created=20
the oracle user correctly. I don't think that the oracle user needs = any=20
special privileges.
