Performance, safety, space limitations. Keeping everything on one spindle is the stupid manager's equivalent of putting all eggs in one basket. My advice is to stop interviewing with the company and send an email describing the situation to Mr. Scott Adams. Such situations are ideal for a good laugh. Does that company's IS manager have pointy hair?

I am interviewing with a company now that has an Oracle based statistical process control application running on one spindle (HP-UX). They want to add another application for WIP tracking. They do not see any reason why they shouldn't keep everything on one spindle. I can think of a few reasons NOT to do this, but I would like more ammunition.

TIA, Ken
