you would want to do that if you are out of space or something.. and you want to manually archive to alternate location .. its also assumed that the dba has done a "good job" at realizing this disk full situation at the every last moment .. gee !!that is unless you can change the archival location on the fly with the dB running, in which case my argument would buckle down to its very knees ..ouch !!

I never really stop the archiver from automatically archiving to manual.

And I cannot think of any scanrio that I would like to do so.

Other guru listers? Any idea?

Thanks for clearing my understanding of stopping archiving. In what case we stop the archiver automatically & do it manually? Just for my Knowledge.
