Installing Oracle 8.1.7.0.1

$ rpm -qa |grep glib gives

We are installing Oracle 8.1.7 on Linux. But we receive error while invoking relink 
of make files such as ...
ins_precomp.mk
ins_plsql.mk
ins_sqlplus.mk
ins_net_client.mk
insd_oemagent.mk
ins_ldap.mk
ins_net_server.mk
ins_cman.mk
ins_names.mk
ins_rdbms.mk
ins_otrace.mk
ins_ctx.mk
When looked into make.log file , I cld see some undefined references. Because 
of these errors , Net 8 assistant just hangs. We had selected to install 
without creating database. 

Can anyone help me in this ? WHat is going wrong here ...
