Basically, if someone wants to know that something has occured and there is data in one of the databases on your network that can indicate that that something has occured, Oracle*Alert will get that information to the person who wants to know. Alert is a good tool to manage the questionning the answer delivery and the response processes. What can be done with it is determined only by one's imagination. I've used it in quite a few situations. As a systems integrator I sometimes use it to prove to management that things they say don't happen do occur often. Or, in all the sites that I've installed financials, I have the DBAs use it to automate the monitoring of the databases on the network. -- Francois G.
