Hi Michael,
we also want to migrate from Ingres to Oracle in the near future so I can't answering the first question. The reason for the plan to migrate to Oracle is that the application on top of Ingres is written in ABF so we still have to use Ingres 6.4 on Solaris 2.6. Our Oracle rep here in Germany offered a nearly 'automatic' transfer from Ingres to Oracle and ABF to [ Forms || Java with Spring framework]. But we are in the really beginning so there is no experience how it works. You should check the Oracle sites.
