Hi All,
Just to complete the discussion.....

We had the clients oracle support guys go through metalink and talk
with Oracle (the client has 4 oracle apps instances running so they are
a reasonably large Oracle client)......

The summary is Oracle say it is ok to use underlying tables.

Metalink note number Note:207140.1 says:
"The HZ tables will remain in place and will exist in Rel 12. The
backward compatible views will be supported in Rel 11.5 however at some
point, it is expected that they will be obsoleted and thus unsupported.
... With this in mind, it is strongly recommended that any
customizations be based on the HZ tables."
