Interbase has used MVCC (Multi Generational Architecture, record-versioning, record-shadowing - whatever you want to call it) for years and didn't steal it. Apparently, according to Jim Starkey the creator of Interbase, he invented MVCC.

some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
