Which ones?

Why?

With a view to doing what, exactly?

Planned Hardware? Storage? Transactions/second?

How big with the db be in GB?, how much will it grow per year, month, day?

Answers to these questions will help people here point you towards appropriate technologies.

When asking database related questions, please give other posters 
some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
