Obviously the Query wizard sees some of these as well, but not all of them, which now puzzles me. The count(*) from all_views is 1102, so that's far less than I'm seeing (approx. 250).

Any explanation as to why I don't see all 1102 in the Query wizard, when I can definitely see some of them.

all_tables, all_views - what other useful tables are there to be able to see the objects to which a particular user has access?

When asking database related questions, please give other posters 
some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
