Correct, there are rules and regulations due to which the data needs to be hidden even from the DBA. Unfortunately Transparent Data Encryption in 10gR2 is still in beta. In this feature, Oracle stores the key in an Oracle Wallet (Outside the database). I wonder if we can do the same thing in 8i or 9i. Can we also store the key in Oracle wallet and retrieve it using PL/SQL (Or any other programatic way)?
