The above (written by Howard Rogers I presume) emphatically states that I don't need (or even want) to backup the online redo logs even if I'm doing a cold backup. But if the db is run in noarchivelog mode, isn't it possible for there to be transactions in the online redo logs that have not been processed yet? If the database had been brought down "immediate" to perform the backup, it performed a checkpoint but is not necessarily current. It seems to me that there is the possibility of losing transactions? I know I'll get scolded for asking this, but I am confused and trying very hard to understand. Someone please clarify for me. Received on Wed Jul 13 2005 - 07:57:50 CDT
