Last time I checked the OP's response in this group he didn't feel jumpedon, didn't feel abused, and stated that he appreciated the reality check.

I don't think our job here is to "sell" the DBA profession.

I don't think our job here is to discourage those that might wish to someday be DBAs either.

But reality is reality and to encourage someone to a profession in which job requirements are changing, jobs are being off-shored, etc. without being realistic is not performing a public service.

Sort of like encouraging someone to join the Army because of the great bonus check and college tuition support and glossing over the fact that they are going to Iraq to be shot at.
