RMAN was used and you should use RMAN to restore.

I find it horrifying that you have a backup that you have never tested to see if you can restore. Horrifying that you don't have documented procedures, and a check-list, to take you step-by-proven-step through this.

I wish you success but you have all of the makings of a poster on "how not to manage an Oracle database."
