I'd love to. But I got 30 odd 24X7 critical systems that all need to be upgraded to RHAS4 in order to take best advantage of 10g. These systems run a mix of perl, C++, python, apache and app servers who shall remain nameless. They ALL connect to Oracle dbs and all have been patched at some time or other to work properly.
If I take ONE of these systems into kernel 2.6 and 10g and this creates ONE problem that stops us from capturing what pays our salaries, I can assure you my own salary will be truly GONE.
Since I don't trust Oracle for ONE second with my salary, this is going to be a LONG testing exercise. At the end of which I'll be on 10gr2 and Oracle will have long ago started the marketroyd b/s on 11x. All the while stating their dbs don't need dbas: I agree, they need a full time patch specialist instead!
And there is preciously NOTHING those 'troyds can do that will change my reality, believe me! </rant>

Meanwhile, I'd appreciate ONE SINGLE 9irx release that actually WORKS the way it's supposed to work with RH? Pretty please, mr Oracle? For ONCE?

Nothing to do with anything in this ng, of course: just me venting...
Cheers
