I don't think the number of datafiles will make any performance difference for your needs, unless you have a request rate so high that you should consider switching OS and hardware anyways. The actual app code will likely be the determining factor, at least until you get it right. Assuming you don't run into silly issues like setting pga-aggregate or the SGA too large and start swapping. You can't really tune that stuff until you get it working.
