JRE 1.1.8 needed?

Is JRE 1.1.8 required for an Oracle 9i client? Is it used after the install or just for the installer?

Installing it breaks some other applications that are using a newer version of the JRE. Our current solution is to just remove the 1.1.8 component from the PATH. I don't know how to do that with a silent install. It is pretty tedious to do manually. Received on Fri Jun 17 2005 - 10:41:07 CDT
