I tried it again yesterday. This time, I did a more precise size check on files in a filesystem using du -k. Even with this more precise method the ratio between reported redo generation/arch logs size is still more than 1:6.
No, database is not in hot backup mode and I can't use logminer, because log paralelism is set to two, which is not supported by Log Miner yet. :-(
