You're going to practice this on a disposable database first, right? You're going to backup the database prior to applying this patchset, right?

Oracle has reduced the level of complexity required to appliy patchsets, but has not made it entirely foolproof.

If you are not completely ready to restore/recover the database and re-install the database server software - simply don't apply the patch and instead spend time with the manuals.

The last thing you want to see is dozens of ORA-600s errors during the post-apply dictionary rebuild - without a backup.
