It's not just scripts. It's a whole environment, including front end servers (called oidldapd, oidrepld, etc. in *nix) that needed to be started up after the datsbase is started.
In Oracle8i OiD was a totally independant beast - you could not have an Oracle8i database running both standard database stuff and LDAP stuff because the init parameters, the tuning, the disk layout, etc. was totally predefined and horribly restricted in the LDAP environment.
With OiD as part of Oracle 9i, that started to change and with Identity Management (AS 10g), you have a larger selection of database versions to work with.
Doing a PHB - closing your company's eyes and wishing realy hard will not yield better results ... tell your boss to get the explanation from an Oracle presales rep. (Usually such a request is because it's "less expensive" - we've paid for the Oracle8i license [NOT?])
Based on my experience, what you have been asked to do ain't gonna work. Perhaps someone else could prove me wrong.
