40 years ago Rolex WAS a quality timepiece, however it appears the company has opted to be more of a status sysmbol in this day and age. We have two Rolex dealers in town, and one Breitling dealer, and from the appearances created by the factories Breitling is concerned with the quality of their timepieces and the quality of their salespeople much more so than Rolex. Breitling regularly flies their sales staff to Switzerland (on the Concord, no less) to update them on the latest technology and their latest models. I have yet to see Rolex do the same.

Yes, a Rolex is a fine piece of jewelry; I simply prefer a certified chronometer. The TAG and the Breitling fit that bill nicely, and my wife opted for the less expensive of the two for my wrist. And, I've not been disappointed, as I set mine for daylight savings time, and when the number of days in the month is less than 31. Not bad for an selfwinding movement.
