Instead Of Triggers

Hi all,



I have a view, which is a union of several tables, all these tables are 
of a common object type. I would like to delete row from this view,  I 
thought about an Instead Of Trigger, but I 've read somewhere sometimes 
that it is not a good idea to use this. Is it true ?
  Another question, I'm in 10g, ans I think that theses triggers used to 
be only in Enterprise Edition, is it always true ?
