Are your sure about it? I did test once upon a time, and renamed plus80w.exe to somthing else.
When i looked into $session it still was plus80w.exe...

On Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.3.0 i just did that test, renaming plus80w.exe to plus90w.exe.

In v$session there is not program name, but in both cases MODULE is SQL*Plus.
